AC/DC Art Pieces Wins 'Highly Commended' Award in Pembroke Annual Art Competition

This year Danielle took part of Oxford University's 2024 Pembroke College Annual JCRxMCR Art Competition.

The optional theme for this year’s competition was J.R.R. Tolkien’s line from the Fellowship of the Ring ‘All that

is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost’.

The winning submissions and some 'highly commended' artworks were

printed as posters and postcards and sold during Pembroke's Arts Week

(5th Week). All proceeds will go to Ark-T, a charity which aims to tackle

inequality and transform lives through community art projects.

What the judges said:

‘I love the light, colours and 'glow' in these paintings. This series felt like a

beautiful interpretation of the theme.’

‘I really like the magical dream-like feel to this set of pictures. The picture titled

The Road Not Taken has a very atmospheric use of colour; this picture draws

you through and has a feeling of hope and rebirth to it. I got a real sensation of

wonder and excitement about what could be through the clearing at the end of

the forest and into the light.’
